Babyface

A "good guy" or fan-favorite character who plays the hero in the storyline.

Heel

A "bad guy" or villainous character, often used to make the babyface look better.

Kayfabe

The portrayal of events within wrestling as "real" or true, keeping up the facade that the drama is genuine.

Promo

A speech or segment by a wrestler, usually to build up a storyline or character.

Work

An event or action that is scripted or planned to appear genuine.

Shoot

When a wrestler speaks or acts unscripted, often blurring the line between storyline and reality.

Pop

A loud positive reaction from the crowd, often in response to a fan-favorite moment or wrestler.

Heat

Negative reaction or booing from the audience, often aimed at the heel.

Sell

When a wrestler convincingly portrays pain or injury from an opponent's move.

No-sell

When a wrestler does not show pain or react to a move, often to show toughness or disdain.

Kosh

Short for "kosher." Generally just means things are cool.

Sarahcana

The Americana of humanRaCcoOn. Those things that have weaved themselves into our underground culture.

Crumb

A loser or an unpleasant person.

Doll dizzy

Infatuated with a girl.

Eager beaver

An overly enthusiastic person.

Flip your wig

To get really excited or upset.

Giggle juice

Liquor or alcohol.

Greaser

A tough or rebellious person, usually with slicked-back hair.

Heat wave

A hot, intense romance.

Hepcat

A fan of jazz or someone who’s "in the know."

Hit the deck

To duck or lie down suddenly.

Honky-tonk

A rowdy bar or dance hall with country or blues music.

Jive

Exaggerated or foolish talk, or something fake.

Kookie

Eccentric or a little crazy.

Make tracks

To leave quickly or hurry away.

Pad

Your home or apartment.

Peepers

Eyes or glasses.

Slicked up

Dressed up or well-groomed.

Take a powder

To leave abruptly or run off.

Vibe

A person’s aura or general mood.

What’s buzzin’, cousin?

"What’s happening?" or "What’s going on?"

Kick rocks

To go away or get lost, often said dismissively.

Beat feet

To leave in a hurry.

Chrome dome

A bald person.

Cool cat

A smooth, fashionable person.

Dig it

To understand or appreciate something.

Drop a dime

To inform or "snitch" on someone.

Get bent

A dismissive way of saying "go away" or "get lost."

Hitch your wagon

To join or align yourself with someone or something, often in hopes of success.

Knuckle sandwich

A punch to the face.

Lug

A big, clumsy, or oafish person.

On the up-and-up

Honest, legal, or trustworthy.

Patsy

A person who’s easily deceived or used as a scapegoat.

Scram

To leave immediately.

Square

Someone who is conventional or unadventurous.

Throw lead

To shoot a gun or engage in a firefight.

Wet blanket

A person who dampens the mood or enthusiasm of others.

Zoot suit

A flashy, exaggerated suit popular in the 1940s, often worn by young men in jazz clubs.

Skedaddle

To leave quickly or in a hurry.

Joint

A place, often a club or bar; sometimes also jail.
