I've mentioned many of my heroes growing up on here. From Ashley Massaro to Norm Macdonald, but I don't think anyone had a bigger influence on what I do and how I do it more than Morgan Webb did.

Let's rewind. See, I used to live isolated in the woods for a hefty chunk of my childhood. But it was cool, because the rich lady who hooked us up with a place to live had Dish Network and got us a cable box for our own little tiny pool house we were staying in. So I got access to everything from Nickelodeon to softcore porn on HBO.

I think The L Word had another impact on me, but that's a story for another time.

Yeah. A slight impact.

Anyway. I was using the Dish Network "search" feature to look up all kinds of keywords of stuff I was into, and it's when I searched "Mario" that I found a show called Cheat. It was on a network I had never heard of before: G4TV. But it was a show that the info button said had video game stuff! They were talking about old NES games!

So I set a timer for it, and holy fuck. That's where I met Kristin Holt in the hottest look she ever had. Ever.

And look, I love this bitch. But this isn't about this bitch. This is about another bitch. A bitch I adore. A bitch who inspired me. A bitch who isn't a bitch at all, she's actually quite nice.

I got hooked on X-Play. I didn't have modern consoles at the time. I was still vibing with my N64 and Gameboy Color/Advance exclusively at this point. So between this and all those gaming magazines I stole from my school library, those were my only time to see what new games were coming out.

I thought she was the cutest bitch ever (and I was right.) Not only that, she was funny as fuck. Granted I'm pretty sure she didn't write any of her own material, but I didn't know that back then. All I knew is there was a hot, snarky girl talking shit about video games and I was like "omg omg ogmgo mgomggomg."

I kept my ear to the ground of any magazine photoshoots she was doing, I'd check the G4TV website on the regular, and I even followed a fan site that posted screenshots of X-Play so I could geek out and crush on her even harder. To this day I still rep the shit out of her, and I have a huge archive of X-Play episodes on an external hard drive that I rewatch all the time. I love her so much.

I remember hearing on the show that she'd catch a lot of flack and get called a fake gamer because guys couldn't fathom that a hot girl would be into video games. Kinda like how I got attacked on Twitter earlier this week for making a joke about Dragon Ball Z and I got called a fraud and a fake fan. This shit still exists and it's totally lame. You don't have to be a fat sweathog to like games, but most men seem to think that's true because they don't want to believe that they could put in work on their own appearance and attitude and possibly land a girl who is both cute and into the same stuff they are.

Morgan Webb is an icon. I love her to death.
